My Bio Age vs Apple Health Age: Which Should You Use?

Apple’s Health Age is in beta. Compare it with My Bio Age on availability, inputs, devices and cost, including when Apple’s built-in option is the better choice.

By My Bio Age

Apple announced Health Age on September 9, 2026, as part of a redesigned Health app. On November 3 it put that app into the iOS 27.3 developer beta and said it will reach users as a free update later this year. Both Health Age and the MyBioAge Index™ turn Apple Watch data into an age-style number, so it is fair to ask whether you need a separate app at all.

My Bio Age wrote this comparison and competes for the same attention, so check the sources under the table. It uses Apple’s published descriptions, not a hands-on test of the beta, and we will revise it as Apple publishes more.

The short answer

  • Use Apple Health Age if you have a supported iPhone and Apple Watch, can wait for the release, and want one built-in number with nothing extra to install. For many people that will be enough.
  • Use My Bio Age if you want an estimate today, your iPhone runs iOS 26 but does not support Apple Intelligence, or you want to see the likely range, the confidence and the inputs behind the number.
  • Use neither if you have a health concern. Both are consumer features, not clinical assessments. Neither has an Android version.

Where Apple is the stronger choice

  • It is built in. Health Age sits in the Health app itself, with no extra app to install and no other company involved.
  • It goes wider. Apple says the Longevity tab looks across heart health, sleep, mental wellbeing, movement, metabolic health, hearing and nutrition, and that clinical health records can feed the wider picture. My Bio Age does not cover hearing, nutrition or mental wellbeing.
  • It adds new measurements. Apple describes at-home movement evaluations using the iPhone camera and Apple Watch, which My Bio Age does not offer.
  • It can sell you a lab test. Apple says US users will be able to buy a panel of over 50 biomarkers for $119 at about 2,000 Quest Diagnostics locations. My Bio Age can read a laboratory PDF you already have, but it does not arrange testing.
  • It will reach more languages. Apple lists global English, Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese. My Bio Age is available in English, French, German and Brazilian Portuguese.

Where My Bio Age is the stronger choice

  • You can use it now. Version 1.0.23 is on the App Store. Apple’s feature is in beta, and Apple says features are subject to change.
  • It runs on more iPhones. My Bio Age needs iOS 26. Apple’s redesigned Health app needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled device, which on iOS 27 means iPhone 15 Pro or later models. My Bio Age’s optional AI Coach has its own download and memory needs.
  • Its uncertainty is visible. The Index comes with a 95% likely range and a confidence label, and reads Limited with a checklist when the newest week lacks data. Apple has not said whether Health Age shows a range.
  • Its inputs are listed. Our Methods & Sources page names every input, the time windows and the limits, though not the weights. Apple’s announcements name examples of what goes in and do not explain the calculation.
  • It has an Apple Watch app and daily scores today. Recovery, Training Load, Stress Resilience and Circadian Alignment are separate daily measures you can already see on your wrist. Apple’s new Insights tab also covers sleep, readiness and fitness, so expect some overlap once it ships.

What cannot be compared yet

Apple has not published how Health Age is calculated, which population it is compared with, how often it changes or how it handles missing data. Its announcements say the feature is informed by the best available science, but we found no method paper. Until that changes, nobody outside Apple can say how the two numbers relate.

Do not read this as one being better. Nothing here shows that either estimate is closer to your true health, and the combined MyBioAge Index™ has not been clinically validated. Our separate article on Apple’s announcement covers the questions worth asking of any health-age score.

Can you use both?

Yes, once Apple’s update reaches your device. My Bio Age reads the records you allow from Apple Health. It does not read or display Apple’s Health Age, and it is not affiliated with Apple. The two numbers will not match, so avoid averaging them or treating agreement as proof that either is right.

Pace of Aging in My Bio Age shows the years of change in your Index over 12 and 24 weeks, with a range. It describes how the Index moved, and it does not predict lifespan. This is general wellness information, not medical advice.

If you would rather not wait, download My Bio Age free on the App Store and see what your Apple Health history already shows.
